We
heard God speaking to
the Church about Radio
Ministry and the vision
was received and came
across through contacts
at United Christian
Boadcasters in Stoke who
were the only real
Christian Broadcasters
in the business.
In the mid 90's we
became involved with
HWD Hospital Radio
at Dewsbury Hospital
helping them out in the
studios and getting to
know about radio
broadcasting and
production.
After some months we
were asked to produce
and broadcast a Sunday
morning religious show
between 7-9am and this
was the birth of Branch
FM.
The first go at script
writing and music
compilation was by a
small dedicated team
from Dewsbury Gospel
Church and we went on to
do the broadcasts for a
couple of years gaining
invaluable experience
and building up
contacts.
Throughout the next
decade and half ran we
regular 28 day RSL's
from studios in Dewsbury
and the 'radio team'
grew and developed
accordingly.
We applied for an
'Access Community
'license (pre cursor to
the present Community
Licences) towards the
back end of the 90's and
were unsuccessful and
then re-applied when the
new Community Licenses
were advertised and this
time we were successful.
Branch FM is a
non-profit Christian
radio station funded by
donations and time.
If you feel called to
contribute to our
operations you can
donate via post to the
Branch FM address.
Alternatively you can
help Branch FM through
the Covenant
Partnership Scheme.
This is an exciting
opportunity for you to
be involved with local
radio broadcasting and
be a partner in this
brand new Christian
venture right here in
Dewsbury. This scheme
will comprise of
individuals committing
to give a regular sum of
money to the station to
help offset our running
costs. The amount would
be entirely at the
discretion of the
‘partner’ and need not
necessarily be a huge
sum – even as little as
£1 per week would be of
significant benefit to
Branch FM.
The Covenant
Partnership Scheme form
can be downloaded here:
CovenantThe form is in Adobe
Acrobat format. If you
require a reader for
this you can download
one
here.
It should take us
something in the region
of £60,000 a year to run
the station. That is a
modest and careful
budget compared to other
stations. It might seem
a lot but, it is the
equivalent of 500 people
agreeing to give us £10
a month. Less than the
cost of a Daily Mail.
Ask us for our bank
details if you would
like to set up a direct
debit.
