| The Word For Today - Today's Reading |
| History & Bob Gass biography: |
| Born and raised in Northern Ireland, along with his brother Neil and sister Ruth, were brought up in a strong Christian tradition by their widowed mother after their father’s death when Bob was only thirteen. Much of Bob’s inspiration comes from over forty years of being involved in Christian leadership and from Biblical principles and Godly values, instilled in him by his mother. 1992 was when Bob put pen to paper and began jotting down these inspirations. In 1993 he started sending copies of them to friends and supporters in the United States, where he has lived since he was eighteen years old. These inspirational readings proved so popular that Bob was totally astounded by the response. Having a vision for Christian radio in the UK, Bob offered Gareth Littler (former CEO of United Christian Broadcasters, Ltd. or UCB) his devotional readings to encourage Christians in their support of UCB and as the old saying goes, “the rest is history!” So, through a bold step of faith in April 1994, UCB launched this very successful devotional that had been called The Word For Today, with an initial print run of 3,500 copies circulated to supporters within the UK. The circulation has now increased to one million copies being read daily, not only by UCB supporters but also by patients in hospitals, prisons and residents of care centres throughout the UK and Ireland. Day after day, telephone calls and letters testify to how inspiring these simple but yet powerful, daily readings are transforming peoples lives. The Word For Today is read on air by Bob Gass during Branch FM key broadcasts including the Breakfast, Lunch and Drive Time shows and you can receive a copy by contacting:
